Our Story

The Nagara Dhamma Temple was officially established on January 25, 1988 by the Cambodian (Khmer) people who live in the City of San Francisco, California. The specific purposes of this corporation are:           

  • To preserve Khmer’s Buddhist culture and to the public at large the culture of the Khmer people.

  • To assist the Khmer people in the process of coping with their new culture and society; and in their attainment of self-sufficiency.

  • To assist the Khmer people in the practice, preserve the unique traits, religion, values, languages, and to operate for educational, charitable purpose.

  • To promote the understanding and awareness of the Khmer’s culture in the America; thus, promote the learning and understanding of the Khmer’s arts and literature.
